Stepping Forward

Eastern Visayas, Philippines

CNL-Philippines is now officially self-governing! From 1 April 2006, Dennis & Daisy, our missionary couple to the Philippines, have stepped down and have handed the leadership over to Ps Jasmin Collado. CNL-Singapore will continue to provide supervision and support to her and her local team. Being self-governing is the right step towards the church’s development into a fully indigenous work. It is envisaged that CNL-Philippines become self-supporting in the near future.

Ps Jasmin is a person of talent and credibility. She has been serving faithfully as assistant pastor to Dennis since Tacloban Church began in 1997. She has persevered on in serving the ministry through thick and thin and despite the many comings and goings of other local pastors, Ps Jasmin has remained faithful to the work. Praise God for her devotion and dependability all these years.

Pray for courage and wisdom for Ps Jasmin and her team as they lead the church towards greater things.

Calbayog Church held an open air evangelistic campaign and crusade in March. It was a combined city outreach programme which saw several pastors from other churches pitching in. There was a great turn-out with many miracles taking place. Pastors and members prayed for the sick and many got healed. The deaf heard, the dumb spoke, the lame walked and even a paralyzed man was able to move parts of his body!

Church attendance is also picking up again as a result of the miracle meetings. Those who left the church earlier for another church have returned. In addition, many have committed themselves to the discipleship programme. They are now taught to conduct Bible studies so they can teach others.

God is blessing His people as they hunger for Him in fasting and prayers. Calbayog Church is purchasing more chairs so as to be able to accommodate around 150 people. If this is not sufficient, the leaders plan to run 2 worship services on Sunday.
