Partnership with God
Thank you for faithfully praying for the past 4 months. I write to bring you good news that God has answered your prayers!
"……I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power."
I am not an eloquent speaker and to make things more difficult, I am an introvert. But God amazingly, opened 2 doors for me to share His gospel with the people here. Firstly, the school has gotten permission from the authorities to run an Alpha course starting next semester. Because I am able to speak the language here, I will be responsible for running the course for the local teachers. I believe this will be a great opportunity for them to come and hear the gospel. Secondly, with this permission, I will also be able to start an ‘English Story Club’ during extra curriculum time for primary school students. I will use this time to tell them bible stories and show ‘Veggie Tales’ DVDs. This will likely be the first time they hear about God.
"……for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you."
Recently, I was able to lead a local teacher to Christ. Evangelism is indeed a process. Someone planted the seed in her heart some months ago and I am here to do the harvesting. I have started a daily lunch time bible study with her. On the one hand, I am experiencing the joy of salvation for her, yet on the other hand, I am also in much pain wanting to see the person walk in the likeness of Christ. They come from an atheistic background and so, their worldview is totally different from that of the faith. Even though they may be Christians, yet their ways are still very much of their old selves. Discipleship is not so much having the person come, sit and listen to me but for me to live out Christ in front of them. It is a challenge to continue to do what is right with love and at the same time not give up but believe that the inner transformation in them will come in God’s good timing.
Looking back, these past 5 months have been full – full of God’s goodness, grace, presence, faithfulness and full of God Himself. I am truly amazed and in awe of our God Almighty. I will be back home for summer and I look forward to catching up with you and to hear what He has been doing in your lives too. It is a privilege to be able to partner with God in this place and in such a time as this. I ask of you to be a part, too by continuing to pray with me.
Pray that God will:
- Bring people to the Alpha course.•Prepare their hearts to receive the message.
- Bring students to the English Story Club.
- Cause the teacher who gave her heart to God to grow in Him.
- Grant me good health and courage to represent Christ in this place.
- Protect my family in Singapore and to save them in His time and way.
