Church Planting New Challenges

Many Challenges, Many Roles - Pastor Dennis ready for Sunday service

We are moving into a new phase of Church Planting; that is to build a Missionary Training School in San Miguel (an hour away from Tacloban City). We believe that when this building project is completed, we will be able to plant more churches within a year. At the same time, we will be able to extend our ministry and strengthen other churches in Eastern Visayas, especially those in Leyte Island. We hope that one day San Miguel will be a launching pad for us to send missionaries to other parts of the world.

CNL-Philippines is buying a piece of land this month to build a Missionary Training School, kindergarten and a small farm for agricultural training. Apart from preparing missionaries, this place will also be used to train and equip existing pastors and ministers from other churches too.

The curriculum for this Missionary Training School will include theological training as well as skills development such as carpentry, plumbing, agriculture, electrical and mechanical training. Pastors from different churches have also shown keen interest to be part of the training force. We plan to invite foreign trainers to be in the team as well.

As for the students, they will come from different churches who have a calling from God. All students must commit to our ministry for at least two full years during their training in the school. Upon their graduation, they can either be part of our church planting team or return to their churches. The kindergarten will cater to children from the neighbourhood, which will financially support the ministry. CNL teachers will be enrolled for training in Manila next year.

The land that we are purchasing is 1,306 square metres in area and cost P235,000 (approx S$8,100). Pray with us as we raise a total of P15,000,000 (approx S$500,000) for the building and furniture. At the moment we are still challenging our members here to take part in this building project. Among other things, the building will include classrooms, dormitories, library, office, multi-purpose hall with seating capacity of 800 and parsonage.

If you are asking yourself, “How can I be involved?” You can pray, you can volunteer. Right now we especially need people who can give. Your gift, big or small, one time or monthly can help build a foundation for future leaders and equip them to reach the Philippines and beyond for Christ.
