1 Life 1 Chance
J & C,
SOUTH ASIA
My visits to our works have often been disrupted by rebels imposing blockade and strikes. Generally new people are coming to church seeking for answers to the current uncertainty. The time is indeed ripe to share the Gospel of peace and life. Our believers are keeping strong and remaining vigilant in prayer.
The capital city is facing an acute water shortage in the current dry season. The water authority would only supply water to households at four-day intervals. Also with immediate effect, the electrical department has announced that every house would experience electricity cut from 6 to 8 on alternate morning and night. In all of life's inconveniences and trials, we are counting on the Lord's grace and strength daily.
We conducted our 4th training course in March and April. There were 6 men and 4 ladies trained in the course. Compared to the previous batches, this group is more matured in faith. One of the trainees told me it takes 3 hours to walk to his village from the nearest road access. All around his village, in three different directions, are many untouched villages. His concern and desire to start new works in these areas struck a chord in my heart. I am reminded and challenged by the great need of the Gospel work here.
There is a great demand for our church planting course. There are already 9 trainees lined up for our next course. We are seriously thinking of expanding our current intake of 10 trainees per course to 15 trainees. However this would mean enlarging our current facility (extra rooms and beds etc.) and increase our running costs. Pray for a rise in faith to believe that this expansion is in line with God’s will.
We are into our 5th year serving the Lord in this country. Thanks to CNL for your unfailing support and prayers. As we look back we are both grateful and thankful for the growing ministry the Lord has blessed us with. Steven’s visit in February was indeed very timely. We have only this life to serve the Lord and at most we are left with only 20+ effective years to do so. Hence we want to focus this second half of our life on doing significant work for His kingdom. God willing, we pray our ministry would make an upward turn exponentially!
