Such A Time As This

J&C, South Asia

It happened right in front of our eyes! From our house we saw a score of protesters setting fire to tires and chanting anti-government slogans. Shortly, a military armored truck arrived and the anti-riot force gave chase to the scrambling protesters. Some of them ran into the small lane right in front of our house. Thank God, no shots were fired in the commotion. This latest series of protests is one of the worst we have encountered. It has plunged the nation into turmoil and caused many days of curfew to be imposed. Just imagine yourself being confined in the house for almost the whole week! I have to learn patience and long suffering. This country really needs the prayers of God’s people.

Church-Planting & Training Progress

April 1st was graduation day for the 8th batch of church-planting trainees. A total of 16 students graduated from our 3 months in-house training. More than half have seriously indicated that they will start new works in their home village later this year. Do pray that from this batch, the Lord will raise faithful and effective workers for the Gospel work in the remote villages.

From our 7th batch of graduates, 3 (one man and two ladies) have started new works in their own villages. The two ladies have requested to be under our support and supervision. COCOA Church is located in the West and PAPAYA Church is in the Central region. Together with the 3rd new unnamed work, we now have a total of 24 churches under our care. Not forgetting the potential new works coming from our 8th batch of graduates, I believe we will see at least another 6 more new works by the end of this year, bringing the total to 30 churches. Let’s pray that this will take place and God’s name be glorified!

At the end of last year, land was acquired for Marigold Church. Immediately the believers came together and constructed the new church building. I had the privilege in February to inaugurate the opening service. We are in the process of buying land for Nectar church which has grown to over 200 believers!

Please pray for these up and coming events -

  • May 17 to 19 – Pastors conference with special equipping program.
  • June 3 to 12 – J’s overseas trip to CNL-Philippines.
  • July to September – 9th Church Planting Training Course.
  • Remember our Training Centre’s Vision 200/20: To establish 200 vibrant churches in 20 years in the Himalayan regions where there is no church. Pray that the Lord will enable us to start 10 new works each year for this vision to come to pass.

Hope Trust Orphanage

All our children did well in their final exams with Annie (10) and Jonathan (8) topping their class. Five of them will be double promoted in the new school term starting from mid-April. We praise the Lord for the 17 sponsorships of our 20 children. Three more new girls are expected to join our home soon. Pray for C and her helpers as they manage the growing home and provide adequate care for each child.

We are looking at the best way to secure the ownership of land and property for the orphanage. Pray that the Lord will lead and direct us to the best possible option.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”

(Ephesians 3:20-21)

TOP STUDENTS
Annie (10) and Jonathan (8) topped their class this academic year. Five of our twenty children will get to skip a grade in the next academic year beginning in mid-April

Special note of thanks to CNL

We want to specially thank Ps John Chin and Ps Helen Ong for leading our parents in obedience to the Lord’s command of water baptism. Our families were truly touched in their hearts by the sincere love and support rendered by the pastors and members of CNL in the recent demise of my mother.

THANK YOU, CHURCH FOR BEING THERE FOR US IN OUR HOUR OF NEED. THE LORD BLESS CNL!
