Season of God
“Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
(Psalm 46:10)
Much has happened in the last 2 months and I have 3 encounters to share with you.
Chasing A Dream
Mark is in his 20′s. He moved to this city with his parents and younger brother 15 years ago because of better job prospects here. His parents set up a grocery shop and he has been helping them all this time. Mark shares with me that his dream is to go to the capital and to make it big there. He does not know exactly what he will do there but he believes he will find out once he gets there. He says that when that day comes, his parents will sell the shop and retire.
Recently I walked past Mark’s shop and noticed that it has changed owners. It dawned on me that he has left to pursue his dream! I pray he will not just make money in the capital but he will find God too. There are many young people in this land with dreams of striking it rich and living a good life. Pray that they will find God and live a life of significance rather than success alone.
Looking for Love
Rose is in her early 20′s. She met and fell in love with a boy 2 years ago and they have been living together since. One day, I noticed she looked unhappy and asked her what happened. It turned out that her boyfriend left her. He was her first love and she thought they would eventually marry. Taking this opportunity, I shared with her God’s unfailing love and asked her to put her hope in God instead. She says her boyfriend is her god and she cannot live without him.
A month has since passed and although she has gotten over the break-up, she is still not ready to give her heart to God. Pray for her that she will experience God’s love and give her heart to Him. Rose is just one of the many young people seeking love. Pray that they will not look for it from man but from the everlasting God who first loved them.
Spring Flowers
Looking at spring flowers that blossom makes me wonder. I have been longing so much for spring to come. What if spring never comes and the flowers never blossom? Will I still rejoice? I am reminded of Habakkuk’s similar experience. In the end, he chose to say “Yes, even if the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, I will rejoice in God.” I trust that this is the season God has planned for me and although I may not see any signs of ministry right now, I am not to be impatient but to enjoy every moment of it. This season of silence and solitude is indeed drawing me closer to God and making me more dependent on Him. I am truly thankful to God and to your faithful prayers.
Pray with me that God will:
- Lead me to attend the right fellowship and to serve there
- Show me His purpose for me here.
- Bring across my path men and women of peace that He wants me to meet.
- Give me wisdom to build relationships with the locals
- Protect my family in Singapore and to save them in His time and way.
