Greetings from Tacloban City!
It has been a few weeks since the mission teams returned to Singapore. The church here in Ormoc, Calbayog and Tacloban misses all of them. Ps Sarah, in particular, misses the “Funny guy” (Sonnie) and fondly recalls all his jokes and laughter. Some of the church members also fondly remember the “Tall Basketball guy” (Ps Terence Ong). Since he first engaged the local young men in a friendly game, many have approached CNL Tacloban asking to join our basketball team?? Well, guess all of you left a very good impression on the people in our three churches.
After the Team 2 left on Saturday, we took a ship to Cebu on the following Tuesday to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We had a good time together and rested well in a small hotel.
We will be starting our 4th new work CNL Sta. Magarita (in Samar Island) in October. Two youths from CNL-Calbayog, Malon and Edwin are assigned to pioneer the work. They have just graduated from a Church Planting Training early this year. At this very moment, they are with us in Tacloban understudying the staff for 1 week. Next week, they will be attached to CNL-Ormoc for 3 weeks to help Ps Sarah and Lotchelle. By October, they will officially launch out to Sta. Magarita to pioneer the new work there.
We thank God for all of you at CNL-S’pore. You have been a blessing to the church here and especially our youth worker, Rosalia. She was down with bronchitis a few days after the team left for Singapore. Please pray with us that her employer will understand her situation. She was absent from work to tend to her family and became ill before she could resume her work. On behalf of Rosalia, we want to thank all of you in the mission teams for your love and care.
