Open Our Eyes To See

While riding in a train, I looked out of the window onto the passing fields of green and my heart could not help but praise God for the beauty of His creation. 3 months ago this same landscape was just a sea of brown, with barely any sign of life. Now I marvel at how much growth had taken place in just 3 months. Even now, farmers have begun to gather in some of the crops. I’m keenly aware that this growth could not have taken place without God’s faithfulness in providing the rain and sun in due season, bringing nourishment to the soil and growth to the plants.
Then I asked myself, “What growth have I seen in my life and ministry these past 3 months.” My immediate response was “Nah! Nothing much has been happening.” But then, there was that still small voice that asked, “If God is faithful, is it possible that there’s been no growth at all? Is God faithful or not?” That’s when I began to look hard and take stock of each area of my life and began to praise God for the growth that He has brought.
I see growth and stability in handling platform responsibilities. “Thank you, Lord for being faithful.”
I see growth in handling relationships with a wider spectrum of people. “Thank you, Lord for being faithful.”
I see growth in the ministry. More people in this city are open to the Gospel and many are following Christ. “Thank you, Lord for being faithful.”
T is 19 years old and comes from a Buddhist/Animist family. She came to believe recently after a friend shared the Gospel with her. The change that God brought to her life after she believed was peace, joy and a desire to learn and obey the Bible. She immediately started to share with her best friend and a couple of her dorm mates. Unfortunately, instead of rejoicing with her, they began to ostracize her and even mentioned that they would test the genuineness of her faith.
Please pray for T and several others like her who have recently come to follow Jesus, that God would strengthen their faith through this trial. Ask that they would experience God’s love, protection and comfort during this period. Ask also that they will continue to share boldly with those around them who have not yet heard the Good News.
I have posted watchmen on your city walls! They will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give Him no rest till He establishes this city and makes her the praise of the earth.
