He is Faithful

Rev Stanley Ow

I am so excited over the dream and progress of our missionaries and their work in the Philippines and South Asia. The Lord reminded me of Ephesians 3:20, ‘Now to God who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us’. As you spend time with Him, allow Him to stretch the canvas of your imagination. All things are possible with Him as He unfolds the puzzle of our lives, for His will and purpose. God will provide for our needs even though it is not always easy to step in faith, trusting Him to take care of our loved ones and to meet our basic essentials.

I recall the time when we were at the airport, leaving for the mission field of Sapporo (Japan) in 1995 with more than a hundred church members and friends bidding farewell. We had mixed feelings – leaving the familiar into the unfamiliar.”This is for real!”, I heard myself saying. Yet our faith was anchored to the One who had called us. Samuel was 18 months and Stephen was 4 months old.

While we were in Japan, the Lord used a Christian lady, penned as ‘the crow’ from 1 Kings 17:6 to faithfully gave 5000 yen (about S$80) every month for a period of 2 years for the welfare of Samuel.

The Lord also used another lady to bless our family, by bringing all of us for ‘winter shopping’. Choy Yoke was blessed with the most expensive winter wear and I had a full suit. The lady gladly paid the bills. Months later, another person blessed me with 7 pieces of suits with some minor alterations. Remember, God is faithful and can be trusted! Let His peace stay in your hearts and minds. God gives us perfect peace (John 14:27; Isaiah 9:6) as He is the Source. We cannot comprehend it with our human reasoning or understanding. Dwell on the good things of God and put into practice what we have learned, received, heard, and seen (Philippians 4:6-9).

May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it.’ I Thessalonians 5:23-24
