Giving All That We Have
Recently we have been talking about and doing certain things that seem to have a common thread to them. Actually we were not very aware of it until we started to do our quarterly update for this publication! The common theme is “Giving all that we have.”
Time really flies! CTM Church celebrated her first year anniversary on 22nd July. Looking back, what have we done? What tangible development has CTM achieved as a faith community? What are our forward plans for CTM?
Firstly, we are grateful to God for leading us to our current premise, which is more than double the floor area of our previous place. The move happened so quickly, we were like racing against Time. Honestly, our main concern at the time of the move was just to get the renovation works completed quickly and then move in so that the church can have a place of worship. We didn’t think much about the finances for the renovation and rental nor want to overburden the church with it. Besides, many were newcomers and so we gave from our own pockets.
All that the church needed – from furniture to electrical equipment – overhead projector, sound system, chairs, tables, and even library books and office furniture were completely provided for! All the “hardware” of CTM is in place and complete. Of course the church is not just about providing the hardware. There’s also the “software” component such as character building and transformation. How then does one prepare and perfect these areas? We were careful from the start of CTM to put into place a systematic process or development plan for anyone who joins the church – to help seekers become believers, then disciples and even to become pastors. This way, the church can start well and go strong for the long term.
We also held our very first Annual General Meeting (AGM) in July. Some members asked us why do we bother with preparing and presenting the Church Constitution, Memorandum and Articles of Association? Our answer is that these serve as the church’s instruction manual. Should there be a day when we are no longer able to serve in this country, the work can continue on.
Please pray that God will raise up young leaders and pastors so we can continue to plant new churches in this land.
