A Fireman's Call Of Duty

Janice Ha

Moments after the planes crashed into the World Trade Centre in New York city and as the people dashed out of the buildings, firemen rushed into the smoke-filled buildings. They had their call of duty. Instead of running away from danger to save themselves, they went into it for the single purpose of helping others get out.

In the midst of mounting threats of war, famine, earthquakes and national disasters, as we pray and prepare ourselves and our households, will we also put on the firemen garment, leave our homes and enter into dangerous areas to seek after the lost who have no access to the Gospel?

In times of crisis, 3 million Singaporeans can easily run to 400 churches within 620 sq km of land. Compared with 139 million Indians (in the state of Uttar Pradesh alone) who have to run to 172 small churches within 294,000 sq km of land, how many Christians are willing to be end-time firemen?

“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”
