This church is located in a remote district. It takes 3 days walk from the nearest road and another 6 hours’ walk to reach them. This work started recently in June after the church planter completed his training from our centre. 5 families of 14 believers including children are meeting regularly for worship. Pray for the Word of God to take root in the hearts of these faithful believers that their changed lives will bring spiritual transformation to their village and surrounding areas.
This new church of 40 believers is situated in the East and it takes 15 hours by bus from the capital and 1 hour’s walk to reach this fellowship. Pray for this new work to flourish bringing God’s truth and light to the surrounding villages.
This new work of 15 believers was started by a recent graduate from our church-planting course. It is located in the Mid-West and takes 2 days on foot to reach them. Pray for God’s Spirit to set many free from spiritual darkness and come to the light of Christ.
On 30th June we saw the graduation of 17 students who had successfully completed our 3-month in house church planting training program. Since 2002, more than 400 trainees have graduated from our centre. From each batch, trainees observed with potential ministry aptitude and skill would be sent and supported to start a new church in their home village. Pray for them as they live as effective witnesses and disciples of Christ among their own communities.
Our training centre is working in collaboration with an established local theological college in offering a 3-year Diploma in Theology through distance learning. This program is accredited with Asia Theological Association (ATA) – a body of theological educational institutions in Asia that are committed to evangelical faith and scholarship. This is indeed an upgrade for our Centre in bringing evangelical biblical theological training to our network of 140 pastors.
Ashley and Ruth came to us in June as their parents are too poor to take care of them. Ashley, 9 is the younger sister of Melinda who has been with us since 2006. When she arrived, she cried but was relieved as soon as Melinda came home from school. Ruth, 5 is the youngest of three children in her family. She is reserved and soft spoken. Both girls are now happily settled in. They will be home schooled for a year before joining the rest of the children in local schools.
